James T. (Jim)
Berger, a professional writer, teacher and marketing consultant,
will become Managing Editor of THE WIGLAF JOURNAL, effective February
1.
Berger is a graduate of the University of Michigan
with a major in journalism, received a Master of Science Degree
from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University
and an M.B.A. Degree with concentrations in marketing and finance
from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
He has held various positions for corporations as
well as public relations and advertising agencies. For the last
22 years has headed Market Strategies, an Evanston (IL)-based marketing
communications consulting firm. In addition, Berger heads Power
Sales Management, Inc., an Evanston-based sales consulting firm.
He is a faculty member at Northwestern University’s
School of Continuing Studies where he teaches a variety of courses
in marketing and public relations. He also teaches extensively on
the graduate and undergraduate levels at the Walter E. Heller College
of Business Administration at Roosevelt University. He has also
taught extensively in the area of strategic marketing and marketing
communications at DePaul University, University of Illinois at Chicago
and The Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
Berger also does extensive consulting and survey
work for law firms across the nation involved in intellectual property
litigation dealing with brand and trademark issues.
As a freelance business writer, Berger has written
scores of articles for national and regional publications on a variety
of subjects including marketing, commercial real estate, the workplace,
financial services and international business.
Berger and Wiglaf Journal founder Tim Smith, Ph.D,
will jointly operate the electronic newsletter and Web site. Berger,
who will develop articles and be editor of the monthly Journal,
will strengthen our focus on sales, marketing and entrepreneurship
in business-to-business markets. Smith is becoming Editorial Director
where he will consult on and contribute to the Journal. Together
Smith and Berger will work together to extend the “Wiglaf”
brand and provide value-added fee based marketing services to subscribers
and the Chicago area and national marketing community.
